Gmail Tip: Manage several email accounts with Multiple Inboxes

February 22nd, 2009

This Gmail tip is based on the premise that you can get mail from other accounts (download mail using pop3).

If you forward all your work or school email to Gmail, you can use Multiple Inboxes to see your two accounts separately within the same browser window. Here’s how:
1. Turn on Multiple Inboxes from the Labs tab under Settings.
2. Set up a filter to auto-archive all mail sent to your work or school address.
3. Customize one of your multiple inboxes to show mail sent to your other address. To do this, go to the Multiple Inboxes tab under Settings and set up one of the panes to search for mail sent to your other address.

4. (Optional) Use a “custom from” address so that replies will be sent from Gmail but as if they’re from your other account. This way, your coworkers or classmates won’t know the difference.

QUALCOMM BREW and BREW PEK References

July 5th, 2008

Recently, I’ve researched into BREW PEK to improve the current test framework of which I’m in charge. As a result, I found quite useful web page references. So I share them.

Here are web page references (exactly pdf) regarding BREW and PEK (Porting Evaluation Kit) in QUALCOMM

Generally speaking, layered architecture as well as its test framework is in the limelight especially in embedded software world.

PEK (Porting Evaluation Kit) is well-designed test framework. If you are trying to devise a test framework for your software platform which is taking away time both of developers and of test engineers, refer to BREW PEK.

※ Since pdf files are linked, it would take much time to load pages. You had better download and see them in Acrobat.

Filter Your RSS Feeds with SendMeRSS + Gmail

July 1st, 2008

Update 2008/11/20:  SendMeRSS.com is a broken link, and its service is invalid now.

SendMeRSS makes reading feeds as easy as reading email.

“If you are working in a BPO or financial services company that has imposed a blanket ban on all websites citing security reasons, you can still keep in touch with your favorite blogs through email. Services like SendMeRSS (of NBC Universal) or FeedBlitz will send you RSS feeds straight in your email Inbox – the moment there’s a new blog post, you can read it just like any other email message. ” Via Amit Agarwal

SendMeRSS

Everyday, I read some RSS news letters from different sites in my Gmail. Even if most blogs provide Feedburner email subscriptions, I will consider to use SendMeRSS to subscribe to them, not with the Feedburner one, Because there is a possibility to completely filter some tags or categories on those blogs.  Before creating a filter in your Gmail, you need to add some feeds to SendMeRSS first.

Then, how to Create a filter in my Gmail ?

Gmail inbox -> Create a filter -> Fill in “From:”address as “alert@sendmerss.com” -> Fill in the option of “Doesn’t have:” (It might be a tag or category or any other keywords) -> Next step -> Check the option of “Delete It” -> Create Filter.

Set Gmail filter

Does it work on any blogs that i read ?

According to my test, it works on some of BSP. For example: In the most of  Tistory blogs,(Tistory is a very popular BSP in Korea) or Z-Blogs, I can completely filter their categories or tags with same filtering.  Of course, If a blog category name does not appear on SendMeRSS, you can not filter it, For example: on a wordpress blog.  But at least, Gmail always regards a keyword you input as a normal word, so the keyword will be filtered.

You might also like to use one of these products which can help you in filtering RSS feeds.
